- Ethiopia's climate is diverse, with rainy seasons (Kiremt and Belg) and dry seasons (Bega).
- The weather varies significantly across the country, influenced by altitude and proximity to water bodies. Higher altitudes are cooler, while lowlands experience hotter temperatures.
- temperatures ranging from 10°C - 25°C.
Common Diseases:
- Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs): These include trachoma, onchocerciasis, lymphatic filariasis, soil-transmitted helminths, schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis, dracunculiasis, and podoconiosis.
- Malaria: A significant public health issue, particularly in the lowland and southern regions. HIV/AIDS: A prevalent disease, with efforts underway to combat its spread. Rotaviral diarrhea: A common cause of infant mortality. Hepatitis: Various types of hepatitis are prevalent in Ethiopia. Tuberculosis: A significant health concern, especially in the highlands. Measles: Outbreaks are still common due to lower vaccination rates.
- Non-communicable diseases (NCDs): Such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer, are becoming increasingly prevalent.
Food:
- Injera is the cornerstone of Ethiopian cuisine, a spongy, sourdough flatbread made from teff flour. It's served as a base and utensil, scooping up various stews and sauces.

Doro Wat: A spicy chicken stew often served with a hard-boiled egg. Shiro Wat: A vegetarian stew made from chickpea flour.
Misir Wat: A lentil stew. Kitfo: A raw minced beef dish seasoned with niter kibbeh (spiced clarified butter) and mitmita (chili powder). - Tibs: Sautéed meat strips with onions, peppers, and spices. Gomen: A vegetarian dish of sautéed collard greens. Ayib: A fresh, creamy cheese.

- After applying here, Please apply on CMANA
- Once your application is reviewed and an approval decision is made, we ask that you follow up within 1 week either confirming your commitment to joining the mission and submitting your registration fee or letting us know if unable to join.
- If you are a Canadian citizen, your payment process will be different. Please be on the lookout for more information once approved for the trip.
- Please do not purchase tickets for a flight until you have received confirmation from the Missions email account that you have been accepted for the mission.
- Although we list a closing date to submit your application on the website, if we have reached capacity prior to it, we will close the application process early. We do often receive a large group of applicants so please be sure to apply as early as possible to ensure you make it through the first step. Due to limited space, priority will be given to healthcare professionals, followed by healthcare students, followed by college students and servants. In the case of an excess number of student applicants, students can opt to be placed on a waiting list in case additional space opens up.
